I'm back!

Geez, another long gap. Hope I haven't lost my three readers. Now for some catch-up.

Still working at HGE, although a bit more erratically than before. My big contact finished up at the end of January. They want to keep me around, but right now they don't always have the work to keep me going five days a week.

For example, last week I had actually made plans to visit with Karen and Shirley up north for a few days, but word came in on Friday of a rush job the following week so I had to postpone. Spend the Monday doing odds and ends, and then Tuesday the client decided not to go ahead with the job, so it was all for naught.

Then another small job came up, that should keep me occupied into this week. It's a good one because I get to use Solidworks, a 3D CAD package, professionally for the first time. I have to create a Solidworks model of a ceramic part, and then transfer the model into the finite element program for analysis, which has worked out quite well if I do say so myself.

Zane, who I've been doing my work for, is interested in setting up a small FE analysis group at HGE consisting of himself, myself, and my friend Paul. Zane says he'd like to keep me on contact for now, but we can discuss my being able to bring in outside jobs and do them on my own time on the HGE computers, for a small renumeration to them, of course. It's something I'm seriously thinking about.
