Economist makes a mistake

I'm used to very high standards from The Economist, but they pulled a boner this week. On an article about insurance costs of the blackout, they showed a satellite picture of the States and Canada at night, all lit up except for this black triangle where the lights went out. Except this picture had been publicly denounced as a fake, and not that clever a one. The "black-out" area was completely dark, not a single flicker, with sharply defined edges. The lights were never out everywhere, and it certainly not as neat as shown. Snopes debunked it a few weeks back.
