I was off hiking again on Sunday, and I got rained on again. What is it with this summer?

This was a level 2 hike with the Bruce Trail Hiking Club, longer with more variable terrain. Which is a code word for lots of hills. And valleys. The hike started out really well with some very interesting scenery, a limestone area full of deep cracks and crevices on all sides while the trail snakes along between them. What with all the rain everything looked and smelled very green, even the rocks were all covered with moss.

The area contained a lot of abandoned farmland, so we kept coming out from under the trees and hiking through the tall grass for a while. We made it up to the top of the highest point in the vicinity with a spectacular 360 degree view.

The rain did subtract from the day somewhat. We'd actually caught up to the bus a little more than halfway thru (most long hikes have a dropout point so anyone footsore can pack it in), and I had a chance to pick up my jacket then, but I really though the rain was going to hold off, so I rolled the dice and lost. At least it didn't rain very long, and I dried out somewhat by the end of the day.
