Weekend of brunch and movies

Had brunch with Colin and Shana on Saturday at Insomnia at Bay and Bloor. Some of the best steak and eggs I've eaten. Got together with my brother in the evening for some Jackie Chan on DVD. Neither of us had seen Dragons Forever before, also starring his Peking Opera buddies, Sammo Hung and Yuen Biao. Great flick. Some of those stuntmen endured some truly spectacular falls.

Sunday was Dim Sum with my brother and Dave and Louise (and six-month old Paula). There's nothing like Easter Sunday Dim Sum. The Kowloon was nearly empty. The plus side of this was all the dishes arrived at the same time, instead of one every couple of minutes. That evening saw Jesus Christ, Vampire Hunter over at Aaron's. There are no words to describe the true greatness of this movie. It was shot in Ottawa for next to no money, but is a tribute to what you can do with a good script, actors, and talented camera work. And the theology is actually pretty good. It played in the reps last year, but is now out on DVD, I've seen it at Suspect. If you haven't seen it it's absolutely worth tracking down.
