My friend Sara has some of her paintings on exhibition at Gallery 1313, at 1313a Queen West. The opening was Monday night. Three or four other artists have pieces on display as well, but Sara's are off in a little room on their own. She's taken this old black and white family photo (circa 1930 approximately,), laid a regular grid over it, and painted several blow ups of two adjacent squares. It's a neat idea and it works out well. This is why I'm not an artist, I don't have ideas like this.

The opening was quite crowded. I got there about an hour after the doors opened, but almost all the food was gone by then. I just managed to find some cheese and meat-like product lurking under the parsley. The most surreal part of it was this guy who started asking for "absolutely silence" (after ordering the smokers outside inside and closing the door) and kept asking for it for at least three minutes until it was finally quiet enough for him. and then performed this "dance" until everyone got bored and started making noise.
