Cowboy Bebop - The Movie

Saw Cowboy Bebop - The Movie with my brother last night down at the Paramount, which actually managed not to screw it up for once.

The movie is based on a Japanese anime series of the same name, about three down on their luck bounty hunters (plus a weird kid and genetically engineered Welsh Corgi), all running from their pasts around the future Solar System. Set on Mars, the movie has them getting mixed up with a terrorist plot while trying to earn enough money to afford anything besides instant noodles. The TV show was known mainly for its stylish looks and incredible jazzy soundtrack (by composer Yoko Kanno), both of which the movie retains (with some blues as well), as well as some amazing visuals. And the English voices they've dubbed it with are good too.

I have no idea how long it's going to be at the Paramount, but probably not long considering the small crowd last night (about 15-20 people). If people are interested in seeing a non-Miyazaki anime movies I'd say give it a shot. I really don't think it's necessary to have seen the series to enjoy the movie, although you would certainly get more of the in-jokes if you do.
