50 cents

I found a 50-cent piece in with my change, minted last year, apparently for the Queen's Golden Jubilee. I only realized I had it when I tried to spend it as a toonie in a Tim Horton's, and was corrected. I didn't even know these coins existed before.

Speaking of money, I was looking as some euros some friends had. Very bland looking bills, but they are completely covered with security features. The closer you look at them the more complicated they get. They apparently released to the public several things to look out for to detect counterfeits, with a couple of feature top secret and known only to the banks.

The euro coins are interested. Different denominations are roughly the same size but have different milling about the edges for identification by the blind.
