Off to see Benet!

I'm off to Wichita, Kansas next week to teach a training course. They really needed someone, and it's not a bad time of the year for me to go (not really anything planned in advance for that week) so it makes me look good to volunteer. It'll be at the university there and I'll be staying nearby, so at least I'll be able to do something in the evening, unlike when I taught the course in Connecticut.

Then I had an idea. I've been making noises about going to visit benet in Madison, WI for quite a while now, but I never got my act together. But here is an opportunity to do so and save a few bucks. Here's how it works.

1) Work flies me from TO to Wichita Sunday evening.

2) On the Friday afternoon after the course is wrapped up I fly on my own dime to Madison (Benet lives not far from the airport there, which is handy).

3) I visit, and Sunday evening work flies me from Madison back to TO.

This is actually costing the company slightly less money than a round-trip ticket to Wichita, and I get to visit Benet for less than half what it would cost for me to fly round-trip from Toronto. Eveybody wins!
