Happy Holidays!

You're think with taking over a week off for Xmas I'd have found the time to make a few posts. But I had a fun/lazy time.

Xmas Day was a lot of fun. My brother came over, I made dinner, he bought the junk food, and we watched the first 28 episodes of Full Metal Alchemist, finishing up at about 1 AM.

Got together one evening with moon_custafer and green_trilobite, and watched that Xmas classic, Fritz Lang's Women in the Moon. I had no idea going in that it was almost three hours long.

In Boxing Day madness, picked up a DVD recorder, in order to burn my old VHS tapes (fansubbed anime, old TV shows) onto DVD and save me a whack of shelf space. After some experimentation (it's sensitive about the brand of DVDs you use) the copying is now going well. The machine isn't supposed to be able to burn commercial VHS tapes, but we'll see if the Internets can't help me get around that. I have no problems with making copies of stuff I originally paid money for.

Made an expedition to IKEA to get a new bookcase (which will ultimately go where the VHS is currently stored), and get extra shelves for the bookshelves that currently hold my DVDs. I calculated I could add two shelves to each and make much better use of the space. Only the BILLY 60 (60 centimetres wide) has been discontinued, they only have the BILLY 40 and 80 now. I was considering getting the 80 extra shelves and having them sawed down when I found another bookcase the right size on special, so I got that one, used the shelves, and will discard the rest. Thanks to Aaron for giving me a ride back from IKEA.

New Year's Eve dropped by Charlene's and Hayden's for a while, and then over to kelpqueen's for the rest of the night. She and jack_yoniga had gone all out with the "Tarts and Vicars" theme with costumes from Malabar's, jack_yoniga sporting a huge Greek Orthodox cross. Got home at about 4 AM, slept till past noon, and spent the last day of vacation watching West Wing episodes and burning off episodes of third season Marmalade Boy.

So hurrah for 2008!
