Rode my bike into work today. This link to Google Maps doesn't show my exact route, but it's pretty close. Took me about 1:15 to do it, which I'm pretty happy with, considering Eglinton to mostly uphill east to west (something you never notice till you're on a bike). If I can do this a couple of times a week I'll really be in shape at the end of the summer.
Last Sunday I went on a ride with a local biking club, the Toronto Biking Network, a 60 km ramble thru the neighbourhoods of Toronto, going up as far as Lawrence and back again. It started at 10 AM in High Park, and ended at 3:30, with a 45 minute lunch break. It was really great! The distance wasn't so much as a problem as the pace, with was slightly higher than I was used to, so while I kept up with the group I was pretty wasted at the end, and just managed to get home to lie on the couch and watch anime the rest of the day.
Also, it seems that I made a good choice when I picked out my new bike (or rather when Paul and the guys at Duke's picked it out for me) as I got several compliments about it, and one woman actually gasped when she asked how much I paid for it and I told her.
Rode to work!
