First, we're moving offices at the end of the month. We actually sub-let from the engineering firm Worley-Parsons who occupies most of the building, and they are moving to new dig at Skymark, as they are planning an expansion. After a lot of back-and-forth and considering of other options (like moving out to Airport Road, into the higher-fare zone, which would double the cost of my commute) we're going to follow them to the new building. This should actually knock about 12 minutes of my commute, and make it a lot easier to get here on the odd weekend it become necessary. The down side is that it makes it a harder to duck over to the convention hotels for the odd lunch meeting, but I can adapt to that. And we'll finally throw out all the old junk that's been piling up here for years.
Second, work is sending me to California for a four-day training course in the new package SimXpert (which takes just about all of the software packages MSC handles, and combines them all into a single program). It's in Santa Ana and I'll be gone from the 12th to the 16th. If anyone knows of anything interesting in Santa Ana let me know. Note that I won't be renting a car while I'm there because I haven't been behind a wheel in about 12 years.
