Go Mars!

The Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter successfully entered orbit around the Red Planet yesterday. It's carrying the most powerful telescope to make it to the Mars, and will be able to resolve objects down to a meter across. Yay!

And Boo! because NASA has canned the Dawn asteroid probe and put the Terrestrial Planet Finder on indefinite hold, two very important science missions, because they need more more to keep the mostly-useless shuttle flying so it can complete the pretty-much-completely useless space station. Space science is the one thing NASA gets completely right, so of course that means there's going to be less of it.
