Everything's under control...

I hope those aren't famous last words, but Anime North is only two weeks away now, and the planning seems to be right on track.

Last year at this time I was a nervous wreck. What with the completely new space we were using (the Toronto Congress Center), which as a giant convention hall required major reworking of the way we did a lot of things, having to deal with a half-dozen separate companies at the TCC instead of single hotel event manager as usual, and the main convention hotel being down the street and across the bridge from the TCC, I was figuring that there was a 50-50 chance the con would be a complete disaster. Instead it went off really well (even with the half-hour blackout in the middle of the Masquerade) and we got record numbers.

This year things have gone a lot smoother. Returning the TCC means that we get to re-work the layout we used last year more to our advantage, and almost all the contacts we signed with them just have to have a few details changed for this year. Having the Doubletree Hotel right across the street has made a big difference too, it's got the guest rooms and programming space we really need.

It comes down now to making sure all the details have been attended to, and of course things will turn up on the weekend that need quick fixes, but I'm feeling pretty confident that it's going to be a really good year.
